The ladies of the Ullesthorpe W.I. had another Zoom meeting with a speaker in March, which was attended by 22 ladies. Our speaker was Polly Morgans who gave an interesting talk about The Great British Flower Revival. All our flowers now come from Holland and only 10% of all UK retail cut flower trade originate from the UK (Lincolnshire mainly daffodils). Supermarkets are now being encouraged to buy more English flowers.
After her talk Polly did a delightful arrangement of dried flowers (which are becoming very fashionable again) along with some tulips and daffodils.
Our meetings are online at the moment and new members are welcome. (Tel. No. 01455 209254). Our Easter meeting will be at 2p.m. on Thursday 8th April when Julia Wallis will be talking about Honey Bees and Beekeeping.
We are hoping to resume normal meetings in the village hall in July, and we are planning a day trip to Grimesthorpe Castle in August.
