The Ullesthorpe W.I. held their October meeting  at the Ullesthorpe Village Hall, where our speaker was Ginny Davis, whose entertaining talk was ‘To the Fringe and Beyond’.  Ginny was a former translator and barrister and she is now a writer and performer.  She has written 11 plays, and plays all parts as a one woman show. Her talk was  illustrated by scenes from her comedic plays about modern family life and punctuated with a short history of barristers’ wigs and gowns.  She has performed live at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival theatre.

She has written books her latest being ‘What lies beneath the surface’ a psychological thriller .  Our WI book club will be reading this at some stage. At the end of her talk she sang a humorous song about the trials and tribulations about being a mother.

Our next meeting in November will be our Annual Meeting, where we will be electing our new committee for next year.   In December we will be celebrating our 95th birthday tea and our speaker will be June Norris, whose entertaining talk will be ‘Serving lunch to HM The Queen’ .

We meet on the second Thursday afternoon of every month and new members are welcome.  Telephone 01455 202499
