Our September meeting was looked forward to with eager anticipation … our “speaker” was the fabulous farmhouse cook Brenda Featherstone. We had a wonderful demonstration of several dishes designed to make the most of Harvest produce, from a hearty leek and bacon soup to red cabbage ideal for Christmas (sorry for mentioning the C word so early!) to savoury tarts and crumbles and of course delicious puddings and cakes. All this in 90 minutes! Then the best part, we were all invited to taste everything Brenda and her faithful “assistant” had made. Recipe sheets were provided for all present so I am sure we will all be whipping up Autumn culinary delights soon! On a serious note, it makes all of us realise how fortunate we are, so the meeting also included donations from our members to the food bank.

Our October meeting, Thursday 10th at  2pm features the ebullient speaker Eileen Fox, whose topic is Catch me Out! where she dares the audience to find a topic she cannot speak about! The December meeting on Thursday 12th will be How to Survive Christmas! Please feel free to come as a guest and find out what we are all about.
